LynnDaily Devotion

Dear Trinity Families,

Here is your Daily Devotion

It’s always a miraculous, amazing event when God calls. When he called Samuel, he called him by name. Samuel misunderstood and ran to the wrong person. So, God called again – and again – and again. It’s by pure grace that God keeps calling. So often, we, too, misunderstand our calling in life. We run to the wrong people, the wrong activities, and the wrong things. And God keeps calling.

Samuel’s response is the response of faith. Speak, for your servant is listening. The most important part of following God is listening. We pray that God would lead us to listen, to learn, and to serve in faith. There is always the temptation to say instead, Listen Lord, for your servant is speaking. God shows his power in the gospel by creating in us a willingness to say: I don’t know what is coming and what you will require of me; but whatever it is, I want to listen to you and to follow you!

Samuel’s ministry was not easy. Ours won’t be either. But God’s Word calls us, guides us, and empowers us to follow him and to bring the light of life to people wherever we go.

God bless,

Pastor Tesch
