Here is your Daily Devotion
People in Jesus’ day forgot what the temple was. It was God’s house. It was a place to be in God’s presence, to pray, and to sacrifice. Remember that, as a boy, Jesus had gone to the temple courts to be about his Father’s business? It had changed. It wasn’t about God anymore. They had made it into a marketplace. They had made it all about money.
Jesus wanted to change that. He drove out the distractions and the greed. Zeal for his Father’s house consumed him.
Today, people still try to make church about money instead of about Jesus. And Jesus still wants to change it back into a house of prayer and worship. He is just as zealous for his house now as ever. Jesus sacrificed himself so we could be in his Father’s presence—so we could be welcome in his house. Because of Jesus, we are welcome in God’s house. And we will be welcome in God’s presence forever
