Here is your Daily Devotion:
When you consider every barrier that the gospel has to pierce to reach a human heart, it’s a miracle (literally) that anyone ever believes. First, we’re spiritually blind by nature. Then, we’re distracted by pleasure, selfishness, arrogance, worries, opinions, and preconceptions. On top of that, Satan is actively trying to keep us away from the word, paying attention to it, or considering it. Even more, the Word of God defies human logic and reason. All these things work together to make it impossible for sinful human beings to accept the Gospel or to see the glory of Christ.
That’s why it takes the power of God to bring life into a dead human soul. He displayed the power of his word when he said, “Let there be light.” He is the same God who displayed his dazzling glory on the Mount of Transfiguration. And he shines the glorious light of the Gospel into the darkness of our hearts to bring us to life.
