1. Write the 3rd Article from “What does this mean?” to “one true faith.”
I believe in the Holy Spirit; the holy Christian church, the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
What does this mean?
I believe that I cannot by my own thinking or choosing believe in Jesus Christ, my Lord, or come to Him.
But the Holy Spirit has called me by the gospel, enlightened me with His gifts, sanctified and kept me in the true faith. In the same way He calls, gathers, enlightens and sanctifies the whole Christian church on earth, and keeps it with Jesus Christ in the one true faith.
In this Christian church He daily and fully forgives sins to me and all believers.
On the Last Day He will raise me and all the dead, and give eternal life to me and all believers in Christ.
This is most certainly true.
2. What three enemies try to weaken my faith and keep me from doing good works?
Ephesians 6:11–12 Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
The devil, the world and my own sinful nature.
3. What is the holy Christian church?
1 Corinthians 1:2 To the church of God in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus and called to be holy, together with all those everywhere who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ—their Lord and ours:
The holy Christian church is all those everywhere who believe in Jesus as their Savior.
4. Where, then, is the holy Christian church only to be found?
Matthew 18:20 For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them.
Where the gospel is preached and the sacraments are used.
5. How do we join in fellowship with those who hold to God’s pure word?
Hebrews 10:24–25 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. 25 Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

b. By praying with each other and for each other. (prayer fellowship)
c. By working together to help parents teach God’s Word to their children. (Christian education)
d. By working together to help spread the gospel to all people. (mission work)
6. Why does God want us to separate ourselves from anyone who persists in mixing anything false with God’s Word?
Matthew 7:15 Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.
a. We are children of God who love the truth and hate anything false. (Separation out of love for the truth of God’s Word.)
b. That which is false will spread to us and weaken or destroy our faith. (Separation out of love for our own souls.)
c. To warn them about the great danger to their souls. (Separation out of love for their souls.)
7. What was chapel about this morning?
