Snake of a Pole
People were dying from snakebites. So, Moses put a snake on a pole. Why would he do that? The snake couldn’t heal anybody. He had two reasons:
1. God told him to. That’s all we really need to know. If God tells us, we do it. His plans are always better than ours, especially if we can’t see how.
2. It gave people a way to exercise their faith. The snake couldn’t heal anybody, but God could. He gave them the snake so they could look at it by faith and believe his promise. His power would heal them.
It’s the same reason we use crosses for decoration. The cross can save anybody, but it does remind us of who did!
