1/28 Assignment – Due February 4

We’re laying down some groundwork for our memory work, so we’ve been reviewing commandments. The quiz for Wednesday is this:

1. The books of the New Testament.

Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts, Romans, 1 st and 2 nd Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, 1 st and 2 nd Thessalonians, 1 st and 2 nd Timothy, Titus, Philemon, Hebrews, James, 1 st and 2 nd Peter, 1 st , 2 nd and 3rd John, Jude, Revelation.

2. The First Commandment with its meaning.

You shall have no other gods.

What does this mean?

We should fear, love and trust in God above all things.

3. The Second Commandment with its meaning.

You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God.

What does this mean?

We should fear and love God that we do not use His name to curse, swear, lie or deceive, or use witchcraft, but call upon God’s name in every trouble, pray, praise and give thanks

4. The Third Commandment with its meaning.

Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.

What does this mean?

We should fear and love God that we do not despise preaching and His Word, but regard it as holy, and gladly hear and learn it

5. The Fourth Commandment with its meaning.

Honor your father and mother, that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.

What does this mean?

We should fear and love God that we do not dishonor or anger our parents and others in authority, but honor, serve and obey them, and give them love and respect

The Fifth Commandment (or any of the other commandments for that matter) will count for extra credit.
