12/10 Assignment – Due January 14

Since we’ve had a very long break, we will begin by reviewing what we’ve learned from the previous classes. We spent some time balloon-bopping and word-erasing the third and fourth commandments, so we’ll start with those. I also want you to be familiar with the three uses of the Law and Main messages of the Bible. So here it is:

1. What is the message of the Old Testament?

The promise of the Savior. Jesus is coming.

2. What is the massage of the New Testament?

The promise fulfilled. Jesus is here. Jesus was born, suffered, died and rose again.

3. What are the three uses of the Law?

a. The Mirror – the main use. It shows us that we are sinners and that we need a Savior.

b. The Curb – the punishment of the Law. It teaches us that breaking the Law has consequences. It helps keep people from straying too far into sin.

c. The Guide – the response of faith. It shows us how we can thank God and serve him.

4. The Third Commandment.

Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.
What does this mean?
We should fear and love God that we do not despise preaching and His Word, but regard it as holy, and gladly hear and learn it.

5. The Fourth Commandment.

Honor your father and mother, that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.
What does this mean?
We should fear and love God that we do not dishonor or anger our parents and others in authority, but honor, serve and obey them, and give them love and respect.
