11/19 Assignment – Due December 3

We reviewed Chapters 1-7. Almost everyone knew the first commandment. Please review the second commandment. Memory work is still our weakest point. Here are the questions for the next quiz.

1. The Third Commandment with its meaning.

Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.
What does this mean?
We should fear and love God that we do not despise preaching and His Word,
but regard it as holy, and gladly hear and learn it.

2. Will you go to heaven if you believe but never go to church?

Everyone who believes in Jesus as Savior will go to heaven (Mark 16:16; John 3:16). It is important to remember that a living faith will want to obey God. God says, “Don’t give up meeting together” (Hebrews 10:25), so every believer will want to obey God’s command and meet together with Christians to worship him and encourage each other. We would be very concerned about someone’s faith if they claimed to believe, but had no desire to serve and obey God (James 2:17).

3. What does God tell us not to give up on the day we’ve set aside for Him?
Hebrews 10:25 Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

4. How does a Christian feel about going to church?

Psalm 122:1 I rejoiced with those who said to me, “Let us go to the house of the LORD.”

A Christian is glad to go to the house of the Lord.

5.  Ferdinand says that he can make it just fine as a Christian without going to church. What do you tell him?

Here are some good answers that have been given in the past. You don’t have to memorize these, just use them as examples of the kind of answer I’m looking for.

God tells us to go to church so our faith can get stronger instead of weaker. He wants us to learn his Word. He wants us to worship him and serve him. He wants us to encourage each other because Judgment Day is coming!

To be a good Christian you have to interact with other Christians; that’s why you have to go to church.

He needs to go to church and hear God’s work to keep his faith strong and be with Christians that believe in Jesus.

Your soul will shrivel up and die because it needs food.
