Building in the Right Neighborhood
To build a life that matters, you have to choose the right neighborhood. God told Solomon to ask for whatever he wanted God to give him. He could have chosen money or long life or victory over his enemies. But those are all limited to this earth. Instead Solomon chose the gifts he needed to do the work God had chosen for him.
He would be a king either way. But he chose to build his kingship in the kingdom and the will of God rather than the confines of this earth.
We are Christians, forgiven and loved by God regardless of our choices, good or bad. But the impact of our lives and the effectiveness of our ministries is greatly enhanced when we choose to build on the promises of God.
